I. AN ESTIMATE of the Sum which will be required in the Year ending 31st March 1908 to defray the Expense of ARMAMENTS and ENGINEER STORES, including Technical Committees.

(b) The amount provided in the Navy Estimates for pay (Vote 12) and travelling expenses (Vote 11) of naval members is 4,375. The travelling expenses and lodging allowances of military members provided in Vote 6 are estimated at 503, and the allowances (Vot 7) and clothing (Vote 8) of 1 Officer and 9 Military Clerks at 1887. The total charge for the Committee on Army and Navy Votes is, therefore, 15,1567.

(e) Extra pay to a Staff Captain in the War Office. The duties are now performed without extra psy.

The Inspection Staff inspects in detail both the Naval and Army Warlike Stores, as well as those supplied to the Colonies and India. The total value of the Stores to be inspected is approximately 3,600,000l. Towards the expense of the inspection, which (including 99,000l. for Stores used in proof and inspection) amounts to about 243,000l., a sum of 106,000!. is taken as an Appropriation in Aid on
