Due to the death of an Examiner at the maximum rate of Salary and the appointment of a successor at the minimum rate, also to a saving in the amount estimated for copying, &c.

There was some diminution in the number of plaints entered on which the
Salaries of the Officers are calculated and charged to Sub-Head B. With
regard to all these Sub-Heads it may be stated that only an approximate
Estimate is possible. The proceedings under the Companies (Winding-Up)
Act, 1890, were less numerous than anticipated.

The number of commitments to prison increased during the year.
An approximate Estimate only.

In subsequent Estimates, commencing with the year 1906-7 provision for a
Surplus of Appropriations in Aid and not required for Expenses from the
Vote is inserted under the head of "Extra Receipts."
