REINSTATEMENT OF PROPERTY : Less value of material produced, charged to Stock CHARGES AND RECEIPTS. EXPLANATIONS. 1. Includes reinstatement, on termination of occupation, of properties in the United Kingdom occupied under the Defence of the Realm Act. Of the total provided, 405,000l. is for payment to owners of property; the balance of 138,000l. represents work to be done by the Department. The 55,000l. represents the value of material obtained in the process of reinstatement, which is either used by the War Department or is sold to local authorities. 2. Provision for transport charges currently accruing is made under Subhead B.3. The 18,000l. provides for certain war charges arising from claims by contractors &c. 3. Represents the value of Medals to be issued during the year for service in the Great In addition to the terminal charges above, there are other forms of war expenditure which do not admit of being provided for under separate items in this Head, such as extra staff in offices still occupied with work arising out of the war. Certain claims pending against (and by) the Department for which it is thought desirable to make provision. 6.
