B.-HOME.-Apart from the reduction under the head of travelling, carriage of stores and miscellaneous expenses (which was overestimated in 1923-24), the Estimate shows a reduction of 82,4551. This is due mainly to a reduction in the number of attached officers and military and civilian subordinates, and, in a lesser degree, to the revision of pay of officers due on 1 July 1924--see note on p. 47. The transfer of 124.2801. from Head I, shown at the top of p. 176, and the similar transfers under Garrison Staffs, Colonies and Armies Abroad, are in respect of Ordnance, Medical and other Departmental Officers included in regimental numbers, but holding posts on Command Staffs. The separate transfers shown lower down for officers attached from regiments are in respect of regimental officers lent for temporary duty in Staff offices. For the transfer from Head II. of a share of the cost of Territorial Army Divisional Staffs see note on p. 40. Garrison Staffs comprise garrison adjutants, garrison staff-sergeants, librarians, etc. The apparent increase for military subordinates with Garrison Staffs is due to a more correct division of cost between Garrisons and other Staff Offices above.
