Restrict the opening of shops and trading on A.D. 1928. Sunday; and for other purposes connected therewith.

E it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the 5 same, as follows::

1. Every shop shall, save as otherwise provided by Closing of this Act, be closed for the serving of customers on shops on Sunday. Sunday.

2. Section one of this Act shall not apply to any Saving in 10 shop in which the only trade or business carried on is respect of trade or business of any of the classes mentioned in certain the First Schedule to this Act.

3.-(1) The local authority may by order (in this Exemption Act referred to as "an exemption order ") exempt from orders. 15 the provision of section one of this Act any of the classes of shops referred to in the Second Schedule to this Act, during the hours specified in that schedule or any part of such hours.

(2) An exemption order may be made to apply 20 to the whole or any part or parts of the area of the local authority making such order.

(3) An exemption order may

(a) authorise sales on Sunday at times not within
the hours prescribed for the opening of
