ment of India Act of barristers, advocates, and
pleaders as respects qualification for appoint-
ment as judges of high courts, and as respects
the proportion of such judges required to possess
special qualifications, and to render any person
qualified under the said Act to be appointed a
judge of a high court eligible for appointment
as chief justice of such a court.

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same,

2.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Indian High Courts Act, 1928.

(2) References in this Act to section one hundred and one of the Government of India Act shall be construed as references to that section as amended by the 5 Indian High Courts Act, 1922.

(3) Subsection (2) of section forty-five of the Government of India Act, 1919 (which relates to the effect of India Act) shall have effect as if it were herein re-enacted 10 amendments to and the printing of the Government of and in terms made applicable to the amendments effected Courts Act, 1922, and by this Act.

Amend section twenty-two of the Industrial and
Provident Societies Act, 1893.

E it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, 5 as follows:

A.D. 1928.

1. Notwithstanding anything in section twenty-two Amendment of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act, 1893, of 56 & 57 a member of a society registered under that Act shall Vict. c. 39. not, without his consent in writing having been first s. 22. 10 obtained, be bound by any amendment of rules regis

tered after he became a member, if and so far as such amendment requires him to take or subscribe for more shares than the number held by him at the date of registration of the amendment, or to pay upon the 15 shares so held any sum exceeding the amount unpaid upon them at that date, or in any other way increases the liability of the member to contribute to the share or loan capital of the society.

2. (1) This Act may be cited as the Industrial Short title, 20 and Provident Societies (Amendment) Act, 1928, and construcshall be construed as one with the Industrial and Provi- tion, and dent Societies Acts, 1893 to 1913, and those Acts and this Act may be cited together as the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts, 1893 to 1928.

(2) This Act shall not extend to Northern Ireland.
