MEMORANDUM. This Bill repeals the existing statutes relating to trout and other fresh-water fish in Scotland, consolidates the provisions thereof, and introduces various important amendments for the purpose of preventing unfair fishing and of preserving the interests of the angling public. A BILL ΤΟ Provide for the better protection of fresh-water A.D. 1928. fish in Scotland, and for other purposes relating thereto. BE it enacted E it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, 5 as follows: 1. (1) From and after the passing of this Act, Annual between the fifteenth day of October in any year and close time the fifteenth day of March in the year following, both for trout. inclusive, there shall be an annual close time for trout, 10 during which it shall not be lawful, except as hereinafter provided, for any person to— 15 (a) fish for or take trout by net, rod, line, or (b) have possession of trout. (2) The foregoing subsection shall not apply to any person so taking trout for scientific, breeding, or stocking purposes, or to any person to whom such trout may be consigned for the purposes aforesaid. (3) Any person committing an offence under this 20 section shall on conviction forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding five pounds for every such offence. |
