REPORT OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE INSPECTORS. We have the honour to report that during the period from January to December, 1926, inclusive, we inspected the undermentioned establishments on the number of occasions shown against each : In addition to inspections we have, as occasion arose, visited different establishments in connection with matters of administrative detail. The general efficiency of administration at the various establishments appeared to us to have been well maintained, and steady progress to have been made. We have been impressed by the keenness of all members of the staff responsible for the actual application of the policy of the Commissioners at the different establishments, and by the spirit of goodwill and of ready co-operation existing among all ranks. The work of the Voluntary Welfare Workers at the different establishments, carried out frequently at considerable personal sacrifice, continues to give valuable results, not only during the period of detention but also in the assistance rendered in re-establishing prisoners on release.
