was probably a brother-in-law of Thomas Goold who was founder of the First Baptist Church of Charlestown, now the First Baptist Church of Boston. This church was gathered at Charlestown in May, 1665. He was married first to,— 3 Bethia ; who was admitted to the Charlestown church Sept. 9, 1639, and was probably the mother of most of his children. Seth Sweetser died between May 24th and 28th, 1662, aged 56. The date of his death is incorrectly given as May 21, 1662. He married, second, Apr. 5, 1661, 3 Elizabeth Oakes. His will is dated May 24, 1662, and proved June 17, 1662. He gave to his son Benjamin his full portion on the Charlestown side, already in his possession; his wife to have all her own estate and one third of his, and if she prove with child it was to have £20 out of her third after her death; his daughter Sarah to have one-third of the estate now in her possession and two-thirds of what remained at his wife's death. In case his wife had no child, Sarah was to have the third that was his wife's; of the other two-thirds, he gave his son Samuel Blancher [Blanchard] 10s besides what he had before; to his daughter Mary Blancher, £20; to his daughter Hannah Fitch, £20; to his wife's three children. 40s. 20s to the son and 10s to each daughter.
