The widespread interest in the relations between Rutgers University and the State of New Jersey has given occasion for a compilation of the laws and other documents that have a bearing upon the matter. This material, brought together in organized form, presents a picture of the evolution of Rutgers as the State University, that should be helpful in answering questions upon which information is sought. The trustees, therefore, have authorized the revision of the pamphlet published in 1913 entitled, "Charter of Rutgers College and Laws Relating to the Rutgers Scientific School". The committee charged with the preparation of the booklet has endeavored to make it complete in all essential points, and at the same time to keep it within reasonable bounds. Certain acts of Legislature have been omitted as of no present interest, but in case of such omissions reference to the originals is given.
