Monthly mean soil temperature at the Reno Agricultural Experiment Station. * After the first snow one, three and nine ceased going any lower, but the deeper ones still continued to fall about one-tenth of a degree each day. Mean temperature, by decades, for the growing season of 1891.. The Carson Observatory is located east of the Capitol at Carson City, Ormsby county, Nevada, in longitude 119° 45' 43", latitude 39° 9′ 48′′, and altitude 4,660 feet above sea level. The instruments used were made by James Green and H. J. Green, New York. The instruments consist of: One mercurial barometer, height above ground. 7 feet 2.0 inches 14 feet 10.5 inches 14 feet 10.8 inches 15 feet 11.8 inches 16 feet 2.0 inches 20 feet One Robinson's anemometer and self-register and one wind vane. All instruments are properly exposed and the observations are taken tri-daily at 7 A. M., 2 p. M. and 9 P. M., standard or 120th meridian time.
