A.D. 1924. he shall be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or a fine not exceeding fifty pounds, or to both imprisonment and fine.

10. (1) Provision may be made by Act of Sederunt 5 with respect to the procedure upon any application under this Act.

(2) Rules made under this section shall make provision

(a) that where application is made for the purpose 10
by the proposed adopter, or on behalf of the
child proposed to be adopted, the proceedings
shall be held in camera; and

(b) for applications being made and dealt with,
where so desired by all parties to the pro- 15
ceedings, in such a way that the identity of
the child proposed to be adopted shall not be
disclosed to the proposed adopter, and that the
identity of the adopter shall not be disclosed
to the parents or guardian of the child proposed 20
to be adopted.

(3) No records of the court with respect to any
application for adoption under this Act shall be open
to the inspection of any person without leave of the
court, nor shall any part of the adopter's or the parent's 25
records be open to the inspection of the other party to
the application.

(4) An application under this Act shall be to the sheriff court within the jurisdiction of which either the proposed adopter or the child proposed to be adopted 30 resides, or to the sheriff court within the jurisdiction of which the person or society or body of persons having the legal custody of the child resides or has its head or a branch office.

(5) Except as otherwise expressly provided by this 35 Act, the decision of the sheriff court in any proceedings under this Act shall be final and conclusive.

11. (1) This Act may be cited as the Adoption of Children (Scotland) Act, 1924.

(2) This Act shall come into operation on the first 40 day of January, nineteen hundred and twenty-five.

(b) the amenities of villages in rural districts; or
(c) the amenities of any historic or public building
or monument or of any place frequented by the
public solely or chiefly on account of its beauty
or historic interest.

(2) In section two of the principal Act the words or to disfigure the natural beauty of a landscape" are hereby repealed.

(3) This section shall not apply to the exhibition of advertisements on or upon any railway station, yard, 25 platform or railway approach belonging to a railway company, or upon any dock, quay, pier, landing stage,

Every urban council in England shall be a local authority for the purposes of the principal Act and this Act, and section seven of the principal Act shall accord- 5 ingly have effect as though the words containing a population according to the last census for the time being of over ten thousand" were omitted.

3. In this Act rural districts have the same meaning
as in the Local Government Act, 1894.

4.-(1) This Act may be cited as the Advertisements
Regulation Act, 1924, and shall be read as one with the
principal Act, and the principal Act and this Act may be
cited together as the Advertisements Regulation Acts,
1907 and 1924.
(2) This Act shall not apply to Northern Ireland.
