(ii) Upon any land in private occupation A.D. 1926.
without the permission of the occupier of
such land;

and if any person acts in contravention hereof
he shall be guilty of an offence under this Act
and it shall be the duty of the police to remove
such offender;

(c) the local authority may, subject to the approval
of the Minister of Health, make regulations
respecting the use of camping grounds. Where
such regulations have been made byelaws made
under section nine of the Housing of the Working
Classes Act, 1885, shall not apply to such
camping grounds, but nothing in this section
shall affect the power of a local authority to
make byelaws under the said section in relation
to moveable dwellings.

4. The local authority shall have power to close a Temporary camping ground whether provided by a local authority closing of 20 or not, or any portion thereof during such time as they camping grounds. think fit where such ground or portions thereof has become contaminated by reason of its use as a camping ground: Provided that in the exercise of this power regard shall be had to the interests of persons desiring 25 to encamp in the neighbourhood.

(b) suitable for use as a site for a moveable dwelling;

or for which a proper supply of water for the use of the occupiers of moveable dwellings thereon is not reasonably 35 available, shall, after service upon him by the local authority of a notice that the requirements of this section are not fulfilled, be guilty of an offence under this Act.

6. Any expenses incurred by a local authority in Expenses. 40 carrying into effect the provisions of this Act or any regulations made thereunder, shall in the case of a

A local authority may borrow money for the purpose of carrying this Act into effect so far as it relates to the 5 provision of camping grounds in the manner provided by the Public Health Acts.

7.-(1) A person guilty of a breach of or non-compliance with any order or regulation made under this Act, or of any other offence under this Act, shall on 10 summary conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding forty shillings, and in the case of a continuing offence shall further be liable to a fine not exceeding twenty shillings for every day during which the offence continues.

(2) Offences under this Act may be prosecuted by 15 the local authority of the area within which the offence was committed.

8. The local authority shall give public notice of their intention to make an order under subsection (2) of section one of this Act and of their intention to estab- 20 lish and of the establishment of any camping grounds, and of any order made by them and approved by the Minister of Health in pursuance of this Act by advertisement in one or more newspapers circulating in the locality and by placing and maintaining conspicuous 25 notices on or near every camping ground and any specified place or places to which the order relates. Any such notice relative to an order about to be made by the local authority under subsection (2) of section one of this Act or their intention to provide a camping ground 30 shall prescribe a period of not less than twenty-one days within which objections may be submitted to the Minister of Health by any person affected.

9. Nothing in this Act shall apply to any moveable dwelling used by or on behalf of and with the authority 35 of any department of His Majesty's Government, or by any portion of His Majesty's naval or military forces or to any encampment which may be certified as under proper supervision by the territorial force association of a county.

10. Nothing in this Act shall be taken to apply to canal boats or other boats or shall affect the rights or

privileges of any person in respect of any lawful fair A.D. 1926. or market.

11. In this Act unless the context otherwise Definitions. requires

The expression "moveable dwelling" includes tents
and other structures capable of being moved from
place to place, and also vans, carts, carriages,
waggons and other vehicles which shall be used
for purposes of abode or residence excepting
vehicles, tents or other structures temporarily
used by shepherds, labourers or other persons
for farming, agricultural, or other like purposes,
or for the service of any county council or local or
other public authority;

The expression" occupier" in relation to a moveable
dwelling means the person owning or occupying
or having for the time being control or charge of
a moveable dwelling;

The expression "local authority means the
council of a borough or urban or rural district
as the case may be.

12. This Act shall come into operation on the first Commenceday of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty- ment of

seven.

13. This Act shall not extend to Scotland.
