E it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the 5 same, as follows:

1. (1) Where it appears to any local authority Power to that the presence of moveable dwellings or the occupation prohibit thereof upon any specified place or places within the encamparea of the local authority would be dangerous to the 10 health, either of the inhabitants of such dwellings or of the public, the local authority may prohibit any moveable dwelling from being on or limit the number of such dwellings to be at any one time on such specified place or places.

15 (2) When it appears to any local authority that the presence of moveable dwellings or the occupation thereof upon any specified place or places within such area would constitute an annoyance to or unreasonably interfere with the amenities of the neighbourhood, the 20 local authority may by order to be approved by the Minister of Health prohibit any moveable dwelling from being on or limit the number of such dwellings to be at any one time on such specified place or places: Provided that in any such order the local authority shall 25 have due regard to the interests of travelling showmen, proprietors of roundabouts and stallholders (not being pedlars or hawkers) so as to secure that they shall not

2. (1) A local authority may, subject to the camping approval of the Minister of Health, by agreement, grounds by purchase or take on lease and use land for the purpose of 5 authority. providing camping grounds under such conditions as to area, situation, the provision of water supply and sanitary conveniences, and otherwise as may be determined by the Minister.

Use of camping grounds.

(2) Before signifying approval of the purchase, taking 10 on lease or use by a local authority of any land under this section, the Minister of Health shall, inter alia, take into consideration

(a) the general interests of the public and the
neighbourhood in relation to such proposal;
(b) the ability of the occupiers of moveable dwellings
to comply with the provisions of this Act,
having regard in particular to the distance
between and area of camping grounds in the
neighbourhood whether provided by a local 20
authority under this section or not.

3. Where a local authority have provided under
this Act sufficient land for camping grounds-

(a) the occupier of a moveable dwelling may encamp
upon any such ground upon payment of the 25
fee prescribed by regulations made by the
local authority;

(b) the occupier of a moveable dwelling shall not
encamp within the area of such local authority-

(i) Upon any common or roadside waste 30
without the permission in writing of the
local authority or their authorised officer:
Provided that such permission shall not be
given in respect of any common which is
regulated by or subject to any order, scheme 35
or byelaw confirmed or having effect by or
in pursuance of any Act of Parliament having
for its object the preservation of the common
as an open space nor affect the rights of any
person interested in the land whose consent 40
is requisite to render such user lawful; or
