HOUSE OF LORDS.

Moved, to resolve, That it is desirable that all Consolidation Bills in the present Session be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament (The Lord Muir Mackenzie); agreed to: Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Commons to communicate this Resolution, and to desire their concurrence.

Message from the Commons that they concur in the Resolution of this House communicated to them on Wednesday the 9th instant on the subject of Consolidation Bills as desired by this House.

Consolidation Bills,-Moved, That a Committee of Six Lords be appointed to join with a Committee of the House of Commons as a Joint Committee to consider all Consolidation Bills in the present Session (The Lord Muir Mackenzie) :

The Lords following were named of the Committee:

E. Lucan.

L. Monkswell.

L. Gorell.

L. Muir Mackenzie.

L. Askwith.

L. Warrington of Clyffe.

Ordered, That such Committee have power to agree with the Committee of the House of Commons in the appointment of a Chairman.

Then a message was ordered to be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint them therewith, and to request them to appoint Six Members of that House to be joined with the said Committee.

Message from the Commons to acquaint this House that they have appointed a Committee of Six Members to join with the Committee appointed by this House, as mentioned in their Lordships' Message of the 16th instant, to consider all Consolidation Bills of the present Session, and a Message ordered to be sent to the House of Commons to propose that the Joint Committee do meet in the Chairman of Committee's Committee Room, Tomorrow, at Twelve o'clock.

Message from the Commons that they have ordered that the Committee appointed by them to join with a Committee of this House to consider all Consolidation Bills of the present Session, do meet the Committee appointed by their Lordships in the Chairman of Committee's Committee Room, this day, at Twelve o'clock.

[Wednesday, 9th February, 1927]:-Message from The Lords, Consolidation Bills,-That they communicate that they have come to the following Resolution, viz.: "That it is desirable that all Consolidation Bills in the present Session be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament."

[Monday, 14th February, 1927]: Consolidation Bills,Ordered, That the Lords Message [8th February] communicating the Resolution, "That it is desirable that all Consolidation Bills in the present Session be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament," be now considered.-(Colonel Gibbs.)

Lords Message considered accordingly.

Resolved, That this House doth concur with the Lords in the said Resolution.-(Colonel Gibbs.)

[Wednesday, 16th February, 1927] Message from The Lords, Consolidation Bills,-That they have appointed a Committee consisting of six Lords to join with a Committee of the Commons to consider all Consolidation Bills in the present Session, and request the Commons to appoint an equal number of their Members to be joined with the said Lords.

Colonel England, Sir Malcolm Macnaghten, Mr. Neville, Mr. Robert Hudson, Colonel Windsor-Clive, and Sir Henry Slesser nominated Members of the Committee.

Ordered, That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers, and records.

mittee appointed to consider all Consolidation Bills of the present Session do meet in the Chairman of Committee's Committee Room, To-morrow, at Twelve o'clock.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed by this House do meet the Lords Committee as proposed by their Lordships.— (Commander Eyres Monsell.)

The cost of preparing for publication the shorthand Minutes of Evidence taken before the Committee was £46 10s.

The cost of printing and publishing this Report is estimated by the Stationery Office at £127.
