TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS IN THE HANDS OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION.

HAYDEN'S VIBURNUM COMPOUND.

A powerful and perfectly safe

Antispasmodic, Tonic and Nervine.

Without a successful rival in the world

In the Ailments of Women and in Obstetrical Practice.

In TEDIOUS LABOR, INERTIA, RIGIDITY of the OS UTERI and CONVULSIONS it cannot but excite the admiration of the Obstetrician by its perfect action. Its employment in a single case will prove all we claim for it.

In DYSMENORRHOEA, MENORRHAGIA, THREATENED ABORTION and DANGEROUS FLOODING it is too well and favorably known to the Profession to require any comment from us. Reference. Any of the most eminent Medical men in the United

States.

Endorsement of Dr. Pilgrim's views
Shall Opticians Attempt to Fit Glasses."

We are on the negative side of this question. We heartily endorse the very able paper with the above title by Dr. Pilgrim. We have steadfastly refused To Attempt to Guess at the cause of an applicant's defective vision, and we believe that an Optician's province is to grind lenses strictly according to the formula furnished by the Oculist, and to make properly fitting mountings. We shall be pleased to send FREE our descriptive price list for prescription work, blanks, test cards. etc., to oculists who may prefer to supply their patients direct, or who are so situated that their patients cannot visit us in person.

M..Georgen

An Optician

Dispensing Optician,
32 E. 23d St.,
NEW YORK.

For over two years the advertising pages of this journal have been open to opticians, and their requests for space have been gladly received. But alas, when their standing has been investigated they have been found burning the candle at both ends, posing as dispensing opticians, but covertly doing all the refracting possible. We have received extra offers for space from some of the older houses throughout the country who do this kind of business. Their offers have been absolutely refused. We are pleased to call the attention of our readers to the ad. of Mr. Georgen in this number who, so far as we can ascertain, is a man to be trusted by oculists. We will not carry the ad. of a firm who does refracting, if we know it. We shall be pleased to insert the advertisement of any house who meets this requirement, and we call upon the oculists of the country who desire to aid in establishing the correct relation that should exist between oculists and opticians, to patronize as far as possible those whose ads. appear in this journal.
