STANDING COMMITTEE C, to whom the MATRIMONIAL CAUSES (ENGLAND AND WALES) BILL was referred ;— Have gone through the Bill and made Amendments thereunto.

MATRIMONIAL CAUSES (ENGLAND AND
WALES) BILL.

Clause 1.

Amendment proposed, in page 1, line 9, after the word "of," to insert the word "habitual (Mr. Dennis Herbert).-Question put, "That the word 'habitual' be there inserted."-The Committee divided :

New Clause ("Marriage of divorced persons ")-brought up, and read the first time as follows:

Any divorced person shall not marry again until one year after the decree for divorce has been made absolute "-(Mr. Rawlinson).

Motion made, and Question, "That the Clause be read a second time,"-put, and negatived.

Title.

Amendment proposed, at the end, to add the words "by providing that the wife shall have the right to divorce her husband for adultery "-(Major Entwistle).-Question proposed, "That those words be there added."
