COMMERCIAL FERTILIZERS

BY JOHN S. BURD

The present bulletin comprises the results of the fertilizer inspection work of the California Fertilizer Control for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1913.

REGISTERED MANUFACTURERS AND DEALERS

The following manufacturers and dealers in commercial fertilizers have obtained certificates of registration under the provisions of the California Fertilizer law, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1912. A list is also given of the brands of fertilizers and fertilizer materials offered by them for sale. Acording to the sworn returns of dealers registered for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1912, their entire sales in the state amounted to 50,955 tons. Incomplete returns for the year ending June 30, 1913, indicate a greatly lessened consumption, doubtless due to the great freeze in Southern California.

No dealer or manufacturer, except those who have certificates of registration from the University of California, and their authorized agents, can legally sell fertilizers in this state. No person or company has any right to use any registration number except in connection with the firm name to which the registration certificate of such number has been issued; and no person or company to whom a registration number has been assigned has any right to give any other person or company permission to use said registration number, and any number so used is a fraud. No agent has any right to use his principal's registration number in connection with his own name.
