Bailey, Florence Augusta Merriam, an Author, of Washington, D.C., was born on Aug. 8, 1863, in Locust Grove, N.Y. She was educated at the Mrs. Piatts Seminary, and at the Smith College, receiving the degree of B.A. She is the author of Birds Through an Opera Glass, Birds of Village and Field, Handbook of Birds of Western United States, and other books; and has written many magazines. She is a member of the American Ornithologist Union, the Cooper Ornithological Club, the Wilson Ornithological Club, the Biological Society, the Washington Academy of Sciences, the Smith Club, the American Association of University Women, and the Twentieth Century Club. In 1899 she married Mr. Vernon Bailey; and they reside at 1834 Kalorama Road, Washington, D.C.

Bailey, Frank, Banker, of 162 Remsen Street, Brooklyn, N.Y., was born on July 5, 1865, in Chatham, N.Y. In 1885 he graduated from the Union College. He was formerly president of Title Guaran ice and Trust Company of New York. He is chairman of the board of Prudence Company. He was formerly a director of the Brooklyn Edison Company, the Nassau National Bank, the Famous Players Corporation, and the Lasky Hudson Fire Insurance Company. Bailey, Frank M., Business Executive, of Clinton, Iowa, was born on Oct. 11, 1869, in Boscobel, Wis. He was educated in Lancaster, Wis. For thirty-two years he has been salesman of the Whiting Paper Company. He is an officer in Zens

Baker, J. Norment, Physician, of 602 South Perry Street, Montgomery Ala., was born on April 11, 1876, in Abingdon, Va. He received the degree of M. D. from the University of Virginia. He is engaged in the practice of surgery and female urology. He is surgeon to the Atlantic Coach Line, the Central Georgia Railroads, the Southern Bell Telephone Company, and is visiting surgeon of the Memorial and High Park Hospitals. He was major and chief of surgical service at the Base Hospital of Camp McClellan. He is a member of the Alabama State Medical Association, and the Southern Surgical Association. He was educated in the public schools of his native city, and at the Williston Seminary of Music in Boston. He is now director of music in the public schools of Hartford, Conn., conductor of the Mendelssohn Glee Club of New York City, and conductor of the Choral Club of Hartford. He is chairman of the advisory council of Associated Glee Clubs of America. He is dean of the Institute of Music Pedagogy of Northampton, Mass. He was formerly organist and choirmaster of the First Congregationalist Church of Easthampton Mass of Northampton, Mass.; and in various other places. He is a member of the Music Teachers National Association of Music Supervisors' National Conference, the Eastern Music Supervisors of the Music Conference, and is a past president of the City Club of Hartford. In 1896 he married Miss Mary Pierce Hosford; and they have a family of two sons and four daughters, and reside at 81 Tremont Street, Hartford, Conn.

Baldy, Edward Vincent, a Clergyman and Educator, of Marion, Ala., was born Feb. 4, 1861, in Storkville, Ga. He received the degree of A.B. in 1885, the degree of A.M. in 1886 from the Mercer University, the degree of Ph.M. in 1889 from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the degree of D.D. from the University of Richmond in 1906, and graduated from the University of Chicago. He was ordained to the Baptist Ministry in 1885. He was formerly assistant pastor of the First Church of Macon, Ga. Since 1923 he has been president of Judson College.
