Alexander, Joseph E., Lawyer, of the O'Hanlon Building, Winston-Salem, N. C., was born on Sept. 6, 1874, near CoJumbia, N.C. In 1895 he received the degree of Ph.B. from the University of North Carolina, and was admitted to the Bar in 1896. In 1897-98 he was secretary to the Governor of North Carolina; and was military secretary with the rank of

Alexander, Maitland, Clergyman, of 920 Ridge Avenue, N.S., Pittsburgh.Pa., was born on April 8, 1867, in New York City. He was educated at the Princeton Seminary. Since 1899 he has been pastor of the First Church of Pittsburgh. Alger, John Lincoln, Educator, of 235 Doyle Avenue, Providence, R.I.,was born on Nov. 20, 1864, in Eaton, Canada. He was educated at St. Johnsbury Academy, the Vermont Academy, and the Brown University. He is president of the Rhode Island College of Education. He has also been teacher in the Providence High School, teacher in Brown University; superintendent of schools of Bennington, Vt., principal Johnson, Vermont Normal School; and a member of the Vermont State Board of Normal School Commissioners. Allen, George E., Lawyer, of Victoria, Va., was born on March 31, 1886, in Lunenburg, Va. He was educated at the Virginia Patyteshire Institute, and at the University of Virginia.
