Ackley, Charles B., Clergyman, of 52 West One Hundred and Twenty-sixth Street, New York City, was born April 13, 1878, in Oconomowoc, Wis. He was educated at the Hobart College, and at the General Theological Seminary. He is rector of the St. Mary's Episcopal Church. He was formerly chaplain of the New York Fire Department. He was a missionary archdeacon in Cuba, and was chaplain in the United States Army. He is a prominent Mason, and a member of the Knights Templar, and of the Order of Sir Galahad. Adair, Irvine James, Engineer, Banker of Eleventh and Harris Avenue, Bellingham, Wash., was born on Sept. 21, 1851, in La Grange, Tenn. He was educated in the field as civil engineer. Adam, William, Artist, of 450 Central Avenue, Pacific Grove, Cal., was born on Aug. 29, 1846, in Tweedmouth, England. He was educated at the Glagow School of Art. Adams, Arthur, Educator and Author of Hartford, Conn., was born May 12, 1881, in Pleasantville, N.J. He was educated at Rutgers College, receiving the degrees of B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. He is professor of English and Librarian at Trinity College, Hartford, Conn.; and is priest in the Episcopal Church. He is also registerer-general Society of Colonial Wars; Examiner Chaplain Diocese of Connecticut. Adams, Charles Christopher, Zoologist and Forest Zoologist, of the New York State College of Forestry, Syracuse, N. Y., was born on July 23, 1873, in Clinton, Ill. He was educated at the Illinois Wesleyan University, receiving the degree of B.S. in 1895; the degree of M.S. in 1899 from Harvard University; Ph.D. from University of Chicago in 1908, and Hon. Sc.D. from Wesleyan University in 1920. He is now professor of Forest Zoological Director of Roosevelt Wild Life Forest Experiment Station, and of the New York State College of Forestry of Syracuse, N.Y. He has also been American Anve. Adv. Science, American Society of Naturalists, Ecol, Society American; American Society Mammalogical, American Fisheries Society; Society of American Foresters, and the Association of American Geographers, and others. In 1908 he married Miss Alice L. Morton; and they have one daughter.

cago, Ill.. was born on Dec. 1, 1876, in Cherry Valley, Ill. He is first vice-president of the Inland Steel Company; and secretary of the Inland Steamship Company. Adams, Laurence Stowell, United States Navy Officer, of Washington, D.C., was Lorn Feb. 22, 1875, in Mare Island, Cal. He was educated at the United States Naval Academy, class of 1894; and took a post-graduate course in naval architecture at the University of Glasgow. For two years he was Captain of the Construction Corps of the United States Navy. In 1910 he raised the eleventhousand ton floating dry dock, Dewey, which had sunk in Subug Bay, P.I. He developed and was in charge of government design and construction of submarines at Navy Yard, Potsmouth, N.H., and was industrial manager of that navy yard during the World-War. He retired July 10, 1922, from active duty on his own application after thirty-two years service. He is a member of the Army and Navy Club of Washington. In 1912 he manied Miss Cora Isabel Abrams Westcott; and they have a family of one son and one step daughter.

He was educated at the Harvard College, receiving the degree of A.B. in 1892; at the Northwestern University Law School, receiving the degree of LL.B. in 1893. He was educated at the Harvard, receiving the degree of A.B. in 1897 and at Columbia receiving the degree of M. D. in 1901. He is a director of the Institute for Juvenile Research, Criminalogist. State and Illinois Department of Public Welfare. He is also professor and head of the department of Social Hygiens, Medical Jurisprudence and Criminalogy, University of Illinois College of Medicine. He has been assistant professor of psychiatry in the Harvard Medical School in 1912-17, chief of staff of Boston Psychopathic Hospital. Ahrens, Theodore, Manufacturer and Business President, of Bessemer Building, Pittsburgh, Pa., was born on Sept. 21, 1859, in Baltimore, Md. He was educated in the public schools of Louisville, Ky. He is president of the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and vice-president of the American Borax Company. Akeley, Lewis Ellsworth, College Professor, of Vermillion, S.D., was born on Feb. 22, 1861, in Clarendon ,N.Y. He was educated at the State Normal School of Brockport, N.Y.; and the University of Rochester. He is now professor of physics and dean of the College of Engineering at the University of South Dakota. He is also secretary of the Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences. He has also been a member of the Vermillion Board of Education; president of the University Club, secretary of the University Faculty; extension lecturer for the University of South Dakota, He is a member of the American Association of Engineers, the Society for the Promotion of Engineering, and is a prominent Mason. In 1891 he married Miss Myra A. Thomas; and they have a family of one son and one daughter, and reside in Vermillion, S.D.

Albers, Homer, Lawyer and Lecturer, of 199 Washington Street, Boston, Mass., was born on Feb. 28, 1863, in Warsaw, Ill. He was educated at the Central Wesleyan College, receiving the degree of A. B. in 1883; at Amherst, receiving the degree of LL.D. in 1923; and at Boston University Law School, receiving the degree of LL.B. in 1885. He is dean of the Boston University Law School. He has also been appointed Justice of the Superior Court, Mass.; but declined; a member of the State Ballot Law Commission, chairman of Brookline, Massachusetts School Counell. In 1889 he married Miss Minnie B. Martin, who died; and in 1916 he married Miss Katharine Ramsey; and they have a family of two sons and one daughter, and reside in Brookline Mass.

Albright, Charles E., Insurance Broker, of 210 Wisconsin Street, Milwaukee Wis., was born on Jan. 1, 1867, in Dancyville, Tenn. He was educated at the Rush Medical College. For eighteen consecutive years he has captured Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company's first prize for volume of business written during the year. He holds now a unique position among life insurance salesmen, having written policies in the Northwestern Mutual alone amount to over thirty-four million dollars since 1905. He has also been assistant Medical director Northwestern Mutual Life; interne at Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago. Alden, Cynthia Westover, Publisher and Editor, of 96 Fifth Avenue, New York City, was born on May 31, 1862, in Afton, Iowa. She received the degree of A.B. from the State University of Colorado, the degree of M.Litt. from the Alfred University. She is now publisher of the International Sunshine Bulletin. She has been president general of the Interstate Sunshine Society for the past thirty years. She is a member of the Iowa Club of New York City, the Incorporator of the Women's Press Club; she is chairman of the Blind New York State Federation of Women's Clubs. She is also founder of the International Sunshine Blind Babies Home. She is the author of Bushy, a tale of child life in the Far West: Manhattan, Historic and Artistic; Women's Ways of Earning Money, and numerous others. She taught in the public schools of Boulder, Col., and later private secretary of the Street Cleaning Commissioner of New York City; was editor Woman's Page of the New York Recorder, and also of the Woman's Page of the New York Tribune. For ten years

she was on the editorial staff of the Ladies Home Journal. She is a member of the Clio Club, and the Chiropean League of American Pen Women. In 1896 she married Mr. John Alden; and they reside at 340 Dean Street, Brooklyn, N.Y.
