This the third most important book written on soil microbiology
.Although Many other authors have similarly covered some of these area under different topic of book Soil biology and Biochemistery by Paul et al and microobial ecology by Altas and Bartha.
Modern soil microbiology is specially focus on soil microorganism from fundametal aspects to applied area. an interesting chapter is on gene transfer in soil is well written,
This book is very useful for teaching graduate and post graduate students of MICROBIOLOGY and allied discipline.
