Provision is made to meet expenditure, under conditions approved by the Treasury, on training young unemployed men between the ages of 19 and 25 (29 in the case of ex-Service men).

The amount provided includes the acquisition and equipment of the necessary training establishments.

Receipts, estimated at 4,000l., by way of contributions towards keep, sale of products, etc., will be paid over to the Exchequer as Extra Receipts.

A-GRANTS FOR COMPENSATION FOR DAMAGE BY
ENEMY ACTION (REVOTE)—

This Subhead relates to grants (not exceeding £5,000,000
in total) recommended by the Royal Commission on
Compensation for Suffering and Damage by Enemy
Action. Owing to the difficulty in tracing some of the
claimants in whose favour grants were recommended
by the Royal Commission it was not possible to effect
payment in all cases by 31st March, 1925. There are
also some cases in which payment of the grants has not
yet been completed by reason of the absence from England
of the grantees. It is estimated that £45,000 will be
required to meet the cases in which payment can be
made during 1925-26

B-GRANTS IN RESPECT OF BELATED CLAIMS FOR
COMPENSATION FOR DAMAGE BY ENEMY
ACTION (REVOTE)—

The sum of £300,000 was voted in 1924-25 for the pur-
pose of distributing a solatium to claimants who will not
receive any payment under the recommendations of the
Royal Commission on account of the lateness of the
date on which their claims were submitted. For reasons
similar to those mentioned in connection with Subhead A
above, payment of these grants could not be completed
in 1924-25. In addition there are many cases in which
theclaimants have not yet furnished details of their claims.
It is estimated that £35,000 will be required to meet the
cases in which payment can be made during 1925-26
