29 JOB SAYRE was born in Southampton, L. I., August 25, 1672. He married Susannah Howell, daughter of John Howell. She was born November 20, 1680. June 1, 1694, Job Sayre, "eldest son and heir of Job Sayre, deceased,"

conveyed to Hannah Sayre, widow of Job Sayre, the farm and house formerly belonging to Arthur Howell.

Job Sayre died at Southampton, March 26, 1755. His will, in the New York surrogate's office, Liber XXI, folio 199, is dated August 30, 1754, and probated January 6, 1759, and reads as follows:

In the Name of God Amen, I Job Sayre of the town of Southampton in the County of Suffolk and Colony of New York Yeoman being in good health of body and in sound and perfect mind and memmory thanks be given to God therefore but calling to mind the Mortallity of my body I do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following that is to say Principally and first of all I give & recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it me and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named and as touching my temporal estate and such goods and chattels as God in his Providence hath been pleased to bestow on me I do give devise and dispose of them in manner & form as followeth and first I will that all those debts I do owe in right or conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoever shall be well and truely satisfied paid and contented or ordained to be paid within convenient time by my executors hereafter named 2d I give & bequeath unto my son Nehemiah Sayre and to his heirs and assigns forever my now dwelling house and home lott also all my land in Captain's Neck alsoe my ten acre lott (he paying to his brother James the sum of £20 in a years time after my decease) allso my new close of land in the plains ajoyning to John Reeves alsoealsoe all my lands, meadows and buildings in Potunk Neck alsoe one half fifty of land and meadow in the last great Eastreen division of ye afores Township (Excepting my land at Noyock.) Alsoe one half fifty of Comonadge or undivided lands & meadows throughout ye Bounds of the township all which premises aforesaid I give & bequeath to said son Nehemiah and to his heirs and assigns forever, 3d I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Sayre & to his heirs and assigns forever all my land at the head of the creek from Job Wicks land Westward to ye land formerly in the possession of Capt. Scott alsoe all my land in Coopers Neck Alsoe all my meadow on the Beach both Eastward and Westward to the bounds Alsoe the other half fifty of all my land and meadow in the last great Eastreen devision in ye aforesd township (excepting Naiock) Alsoe the other half fifty of Commonadge or undevided lands and medows throughout the bounds of ye township afores but in case my said son Joseph is taken away by death without lawful heir of his body then it is my will & I do give all that I have given to my son Joseph to my son James and to his heirs and assigns forever 4th I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Sayre and to his heirs and assigns forever all my close land at Maycocks on the North side of the high Way ajoyning to David Hand and William Mulford alsoe all my other close of land lying at Maycocks that lies on the south side of the high Way alsoe all my land in Naiock providing he pays his brother James the sum of £10 in a years time after my decease 5th I give and bequeath to my son James Sayres all my moveable estate after all my debts and legacies and funerall charges are paid. It is alsoe my will that notwithstanding I have given my son Nehemiah all my land and medow in Potunck Neck that if in case my said Son Nehemiah his heirs executors administrators or assigns they or any of them ever claim any right or title to the land my sons Joseph and James possess in Gosham in ye Jarseys or

to any other lands and medows I have given to my three younger sons then its my will & I do give the one moiety or of all my land and medow in Potunck neck to my son James and to his heirs & assigns forever. And in case my son Nehemiah does not pay to my son James the above said £20 in the time above said Then I do give to my son James and to his heirs and assigns forever all my 10 acre lott I have given to my son Nehemiah 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah the sum of 10s. also I do give to my son in law Mr. Timothy Johns the sum of 10s. being in lieu of what I had given to my daughter Elizabeth in my former will in her life time. Also I give to my daughter Abigail the sum of 10s. 7th and lastly I constitute and apoint and ordain and make my 2 sons namely Nehemiah Sayre and Benjamin Sayre my only sole and joynt executors of this my last will & testament and I do hereby disallow revoke and disanull all and every other former Testament Will and legacy request and executor by me in any wise before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in Southampton this 30th day of August and in the 28th year of his Majesties reign etc. Annoy Dom. 1754.

EZEKIEL+ was a blacksmith of Southampton, L. I., and probably unmarried.

His will, dated July 6, 1740, probated September 17, 1753, reads as follows:

In the name of God Amen. The 6th of July, in the year of our Lord 1740, I, Ezekiel Sayre of the town of Southampton County of Suffolk & Colony of New York Blacksmith being in perfect health of body & mind thanks be unto God for it but calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, Do make and ordain this my last will & Testament That is to say Princably & first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it hoping through the merits, death & passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full & free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins & to inherit everlasting life & my body I commit to the earth, to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God & as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner & form that is to say first, I Ezekiel Sayre blacksmith do give and bequeath unto my beloved brother Joseph Sayre cordwainer of the town of Southampton and County of Suffolk and province aforesaid 200 Acres of land lying scituate & being in the County of Orrange to him and his heirs forever it being a tract of land purchased of Edward Blagg of New York, joyning to Hezekiah Howell & Co. and do likewise give to Joseph Sayre the half of my moveable estate and the other half of moveable estate I give to my honored Mother Susannah Sayre, wife of Job Sayre. 35 JOHN SAYRE, b. March 17, 1692; m. April 18, 1717, Hannah Howell, who died June 5, 1782, aged 89 years. He was a farmer of Southampton, L. I. He was elected a Trustee of the town, April 4, 1727, and served many years. Was appointed, in 1740, Inspector of Insolvent Estates. Was Overseer of the Poor in 1744-48. He served as Deacon of the Congregational Church for many years. He died at S'h'm'n, March 12, 1767. He was buried in the cemetery near the southwest end of Mecox Bay, where his tombstone and those of many of his descendants yet remain. His will, recorded in N. Y., in Liber XXV, folio 564, leaves five shillings to his son-in-law Silas Cook, but which daughter the latter married does not appear.
