Know all men by these presents that We David Seers & Ephraim Seers both of Cohansie old Cesarea River in the province of New Jersey Henry Buck of the same Place Blacksmith & Jeremiah Bennet of the same place are held and firmely bound unto Wm Pinhorne Esq' president of her Majestys Councell for the province of New Jersey in the sum of Seaven hundred & fiveteen pounds of Lawfull money of the province of New Jersey to be paid to the said William Pinhorne or to the Guernor or Commander in Cheif of the said province for the time being to the which payment well and truely to be made We and each doe bind our selves our & euery of heirs Executors and Administrators Joyntly & Severally firmly by these presents sealed with ovr Seales and dated this nineteenth day of Aprill in the ninth yeare of her Majestys Reigne Annoq Dom 1710.

The Condition of this obligation Is such that If the above bounden David Seers & Ephraim Seers Administrators with the will Anexed of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Creditts of Joseph Seeres Late of Cohansy in the County of Salem deceased doe make or Cawse to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Creditts of the said Deceased which have or Shall Come to the hands possession or knowledge of the said David Seers

52 ELISHA. His will, in Trenton, Liber II, folio 330, is dated April 12, 1726, and probated April 19, 1726. In it he is called "Elisha of Fairfield, Cohansey."

who was born 1667, and died May 15, 1733.

On Sept. 13, 1706, Nathaniel Bishop conveyed land in East Hampton to Daniel Sayre, Weaver, of Southampton.

In 1712-13, land at Montauk was sold to Daniel Sayre, yeoman, which he sold in 1717.

He was chosen Collector of Southampton in 1712.

In 1730-31, Daniel Sayre, of Southampton, "Gentleman," is mentioned in a deed.

Vol. LIII, p. 103, of Colonial MSS. at Albany, under date of June 23, 1709, reads:

The Council have agreed that Daniel Sayer and Mordecai Holman shall be Lieutenants to the company of Col. Schuyler, and desire you will fill up their commissions accordingly, to the end they may not be detained longer in Towne.

This was indorsed: "Order to fill up Commissions for Capt. Lt. & Captain of Coll. Schuylers Company, Suffolk."

Daniel Sayre was called also Captain Daniel Sayre.

Vol. LIV, p. 188, dated April 18, 1711, in a letter from Daniel Sayre, gives names of whalers, and mentions that Ichabod Sayre was part owner of a whaler.

Vol. LIV, p. 181, March 30, 1711, states that Daniel Sayre submitted to the Governor a report of the number of whales killed near Long Island Coast.

He was Sheriff of Suffolk Co., N. Y., 1711–12.

He was Justice at Southampton, 1718 to 1733.

East Hampton Records, II, 293, March 4, 1713, read: Nathaniel Hand conveys to Daniel Sayre, yeoman, land at Wainscott in East Hampton, bounded North by highway, South by John Hopp, East by town land, west by Thomas Osborn and Daniel Sayre aforesaid. 12 acres, house and orchard.

Page 373, Daniel Sayre, yeoman, conveys 26 acres at Wainscott, June 25, 1717. Page 427, in list for 1727, to put cattle in at Montauk, "Captain Sayre £16 6s 8d."

A deed from Daniel Sayre to Nathan Cooper, dated January 7, 1724, recorded June 21, 1724, Liber "B," page 131, conveys:

One certain tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the bounds of the town of Southampton, in ye county & collony abovesaid, being bounded on the East by the common land belonging to ye sd town, on the West by the Long Pond, on the North by the lane of Eliphalet Clarke, on the South by the land of Nathaniel Woodhull, Containing by estimation twenty-four acres be it more or less.

Vol. III, Southampton, p. 20, March 20, 1731, Daniel Sayre conveys "to Jonah Pierson half of my North lot I had of my son, bounded West by Morehouse's land, South by land I sold Job Pierson, East by Hedge's land, North by highway."

He died May 11, 1748, and was buried at Mecox, L. I.

His will, dated May 22, 1747, probated June 16, 1748, recorded New York, Vol. XVI, p. 331, reads as follows:

In the name of God, Amen. The 22nd day of May in ye year Anoque Domini 1747 I Daniel Sayre of Southampton in the County of Suffolk & in the Colony of New York Esq' being in age and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be unto God therefore Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to Buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of My Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receve ye same again by the Mighty power of God and as touching ye or such worldly Estate wherewith it has please God to bless me in this life I give Demise and dispose of ye same in ye following manner and form. Imprimis I order that all my lands and Meadows and Buildings within the Bounds of Southampton shall be sold by way of Publick vendue at the Discretion of my Executors. Item I give to my son Daniel Sayre 20 Pounds and my Pistil and one silver spoon Item 2nd I give to my daughter Hannah Smith 50 pounds in a Bond payable the first day of April next ensuing by John Conckling.
