On page 494 of this book it states that their was no issue from John Benjamin Bowdish and Ellen Agnes "Nellie" Lombard. This is incorrect. They had one daughter, Cora Irene Bowdish, born November 13, 1898, Evanston, Cook, Illinois and died February 24, 1983, same location. Cora never married.

Unfortunately this book includes a statement about a relationship using the word "probably" when alluding to a will. I have a copy of that will, and the relationship between the deceased DAR patriot and the named executor does not state their relationship. Therefore, I am unable to use this book to prove my DAR line. However, I have not given up the search. Fortunately other information in the book does appear to be well sourced. 

This book is considered canon as far as the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) are concerned, so any descendant wishing to prove their lineage might consider purchasing a copy. I did and it was not only interesting, but an immeasurable help in establishing my link to my revolutionary ancestor, a descendant of Thomas Sayre's. 

An enormous help in tracking down my one line of my grandmother's ancestors. (She was Ione (Braught) Brown, the daughter of Elizabeth Sayre Braught #2766 in Dr. Banta's book.) It would be interesting to know how many descendants Thomas Sayre has is this year 2011, one hundred and ten years after Dr. Banta published his work.
