Naval Reserve Properties.-NEW BRUNSWICK, (a) Land at L'Etang Harbour, (b) McCann's Island, L'Etang Harbour, (c) Flea Island, L'Etang Harbour, and (d) Man of War Island, Bliss Harbour, and NOVA SCOTIA, Jerseyman's Island, Arechat Harbour, were transferred by Order in Council dated 2 May 1925 to the Government of the Dominion of Canada unconditionally, subject only to the Tenancy and other Agreements affecting the properties.

Free grant of Admiralty land was made to the Plymouth Corporation for Public Road improvements (S.26,897, see Correspondence, page 114).

A. Due mainly to cost of removals from Rosyth and Pembroke Dockyards, consequent on reduction to a care and maintenance basis.

B.-Requirements were less than anticipated.

C.-Due to towage abroad of floating dock being performed by dockyard tugs instead of by contract (30,0001.), and to reduced expenditure on towage generally (3,2007.); modified by larger requirements for canal dues (5,0001.) and pilotage (7007.).

D.-Due to the reduced cost of telegrams and cablegrams, and increased use of naval wireless telegraphy (3,0701.), and to economies effected by surrender or alteration of telephone and telegraph lines (2,6507.).

E. Due to reduced requirements for subsistence allowance of naval personnel.

G.-Due to certain cases not having matured for payment within the year, and to others having been of smaller amount than anticipated.

(additional to the payment of 3501. recorded in Navy Appropriation Account 1923-24, page 44, Vote 11, Subhead A.) paid, as an act of grace, to a Contractor in respect of increased costs incurred by him on an Admiralty contract for conveyance of baggage during the war (S.22,734).
