Royal Marine Police are employed at Royal Victoria Yard, Deptford, at the Rates of Pay for the various Ranks shown on page 92c. Metropolitan Police are employed in other Victualling Yards at Home under Act 23 & 24 Vict. c. 135, at commuted rates furnished annually by the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. The composition of the force at each Establishment is sanctioned by the Treasury. The men receive their wages, &c., froin their own Department, the Admiralty paying for each man according to his rank at a commuted rate representing the average cost.
