PUBLIC EDUCATION-ENGLAND AND WALES. No. 33.-DAY TECHNICAL CLASSES AND TECHNICAL INSTITUTION COURSES. (1) The terms "Day Technical Classes" and "Technical Institution Courses in this table bear the meaning assigned to them in the Board of Education's "Regulations for Technical Schools, etc." (Ch. 3). Institutions in receipt of grant for the year ended 31st July, 1912, under the "Statement of Grants available from the Board of Education in aid of Technological and Professional Work in Universities in England and Wales" are not included in the figures for that year: this explains the decrease in the figures for "Technical Institution Courses " for 1911-12. Medical Schools have also been excluded throughout. (a) "Junior Technical Schools were first recognised in the school year 1913-14. Before that year, schools of this type had been recognised as "Day Technical Classes." (b) Includes expenditure in respect of Military Occupation of school premises.
