But in regular extension work, until the time of greater specialization and more general education, --until that time, colleges will have to be satisifed with only undergraduate preparation.

Personal Qualifications.

In addition to the technical knowledge that an extension worker shoud possess, and in addition to the professional preparation and experience that he ought to have, supplementary to his practical farm experience, the successful extension worker must possess a number of personal qualifications which especially endow him for the work. Table B represents a score card, as it were, of the personal qualifications of an extension worker, compiled from the veritable deluge of answers that demanded all gradations from the least to the greatest requirements.In general, all agree that the extension worker should have all of the energy that it is possible for him to possess, but with a special plea for proper balance. Extension work requires the greatest amount of stamina and vigour and vitality, and the worker must be able to know how to use his energy to the greatest advantage and at the same time conserve it as economically as possible.

A Leader of Men.

An extension man must be a born leader of men. But a safe leader above all things. Dean Thomas F. Hunt, of the University of California gives the following interesting qualifications that an extension man must possess;-

1. Gray Hairs.

2. Common Sense.

3. Winning Personality.

4. Conservative Tempermanent. Not a promoter.

5. Ability to Guide Safely and Sanely.

Prof.W.D.Hurd of the Massachussetts Agricultural College contends that extension teaching is on a par with and worthy of classification with the older forms of education; and that the men who are to teach in this department must possess as high qualifications as any who give instruction to resident students. In addition, they must possess organizing ability of a high order,be expert in judging men, have tact, common sense and an appreciation of the difficulties of others. Prof.Alva Agee further supplements this statement by

calling attention first to the kind of a man the trainer should be, that the trained man was a product and that back of him was the expert who fitted him for the work. This trainer should be a man of large experience, should believe in agriculture, should be possessed of high character and should be a scholar of acknowledged ability in directions other than
