The Chancellor of the Exchequer reminds the Board that the contribution offered by the Gold Coast towards the cost of the War took the form of a sum of £200,000 payable by annual instalments and that of this sum £140,000 will have been received under the existing arrangements by the end of the present financial year. The Colony has now offered, in addition to repaying the whole of certain outstanding advances from the Exchequer, to pay over the whole of the outstanding balance of £60,000 forthwith.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer recommends that this offer be accepted.

My Lords concur, and are glad to take this opportunity of again recording Their grateful appreciation of this gift.

Let a copy of this Minute be forwarded to the Under Secretary of State, Colonial Office, for transmission to the Gold Coast Government, and let copies thereof be presented to both Houses of Parliament by His Majesty's Command.
