NOTE ON ADDITIONAL BENEFITS.-Additional Benefits provided out of surpluses declared at the first valuation became jayable, under schemes approved by the Ministry, from 4th July, 1921 (in some cases from a later date). In the above statement payments of the Additional Benefits which take the form of increases of ordinary cash benefits (Sickness, Disablement and Maternity) are included in the figures for these benefits. NOTE.-Sanatorium Benefit ceased in Scotland after the 31st December, 1920, and in England and Wales after the 30th April, 1921, to be provided as a benefit under the National Health Insurance Acts. In the above statement the payments for Sanatorium Benefits represent payments of liabilities outstanding at the dates of cessation. Medical Benefit is administered by Insurance Committees for all persons entitled to the benefit under the Acts, except the persons referred to in Note (b) above. APPROVED SOCIETIES' INVESTMENTS.
