It is the intention to continue the experiments along these lines next season. The Entomologist and Botanist has made experiments and investigations: First, with arsenites in destroying the apple worm; second, the early life history of the codling moth; third, injurious insects common in Nevada; fourth, insect fauna of the State; fifth, noxious plants of Nevada; sixth, dodder parasitic on altalfa; seventh, the flora of the State. Since the new Chemist's connection with the Station his attention has been given largely to: First, the analysis of sugar beets; second, the analysis of potatoes; third, the chemical composition of Nevada's forage crops. Future investigations in his department have been outlined as follows: First, testing of creameries and other work in dairy products; second, investigation of the alkali soils of Nevada; third, relation of soil to country rock. Four bulletins have been issued during the year, as follows: No. 12, Sugar Beet Culture; No. 13, Sugar Beet Experiments; No. 14, Potato Experiments; No. 15, Dodder (Cuscuta) Parasitic on Alfalfa. A number of improvements have been made, among which may be mentioned the erection of a farm house at a cost of $750 and a seed building for $450, to be used for storage of seed, grain, corn and other farm produce. The members of the Staff are in constant communication with people in different parts of the State relative to the work being done, and are trying to make the Station a practical, helpful institution.
