Sague, John Kelsey, mayor of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was born Jan. 30, 1866, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He was major in the First New York Volunteer Infantry and major in the First Infantry of the National Guard of New York. He is now president of the Municipal Government Association State of New York and Mayor of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Saleeby, Najeeb Mitry, physician and author of Manila, P.I., was born Feb. 7, 1870, in Lebanon, Syria. In 1898-1901 he was acting assistant surgeon in the United States Army; in 1901-03 he was captain and assistant surgeon of the United States Volunteers; in 1903-06 he was superintendent of schools for the Moro Province, Mindanao, P.I.; and in 1907-11 he was surgeon in charge of the University hospital at Manila. He is the author of The History of Sulu; Studies in Moro History, Law and Religion; Sulu Reader; The Moro Problem; Origin of the Malayan Filipinos and other works.

Sanford, Stephen, manufacturer and business president of Amsterdam, N.Y., was born May 26, 1826, in Mayfield, N.Y. He was educated in the public schools; at the academy of Amsterdam, N.Y.; at the Georgetown College of the District of Columbia, and for two years was student at West Point. In 1844 he entered the carpet manufacturing business of his father, which is now one of the largest establishments of its kind in the country. He founded the Amsterdam Reservoir Co., by which a thousand acres of land have been flooded by the waters of the Chunctanunda Creek, supplying water power for its own and other manufactories. He is president of the Amsterdam Reservoir Co., president of the Chunctanunda Gas Light Co., president of the Amsterdam National Bank and president of the Greenhill Cemetery Association. He is an agriculturist and a breeder of horses and cattle. In 1869-71 he was a representative from New York to the forty-first congress as a republican. He founded a home for elderly women of Montgomery County and presented it to the city of Amsterdam, N.Y. He also built the Children's Home and has been a large contributor to the hospitals and churches of his community and resides in Amsterdam, N.Y.

Saunders, Charles G., lawyer and chancellor, of 95 Milk St., Boston, Mass., was born Oct. 3, 1847, in Lawrence, Mass. He is president of the Harvard Musical Association; chancellor of St. Paul's Cathedral of Boston, and president of Harvard Club at Lawrence. He has attained prominence at the bar and has filled important positions in the Protestant Episcopal Church in Massachusetts.

Saunders, Edward Watts, congressman, was born in Franklin County, Va., Oct. 25, 1860. He became judge of the seventh circuit, and while serving in that position was elected to fill the vacancy in the fifty-ninth congress, and to the sixtieth, sixtyfirst and sixty-second congresses, and was re-elected to the sixtythird congress as a Democrat; resides in Rocky Mount, Va.
