Amendment made, in page 2, line 15, by leaving out the word "two," and inserting the word “five”—(Mr. AttorneyGeneral),-instead thereof. 66 Clause, as amended, agreed to. Clause 2. Amendment made, in page 2, line 21, by leaving out the words "passing of this Act," and inserting the words thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two -(Mr. Attorney-General), instead thereof. 99 - Another Amendment proposed, in page 2, line 23, to leave out the word " of "-(Lieut.-Colonel Hurst).-Question proposed, "That the word 'of' stand part of the Clause." Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Other Amendments made, in page 2, line 23, by leaving out the words "not less than "; in line 23, at the end, by inserting the words "such period being continuous or subject to such intervals as the society may think reasonable"(Lieut.-Colonel Hurst); and in line 28, by leaving out the words "may in their discretion," and inserting the word "shall "-(Captain Tudor-Rees),— instead thereof. Other Amendments made, in page 2, line 33, by leaving out all the words from the word "impracticable impracticable" to the word "and," in line 37; in page 3, line 8, at the end, by adding the words: -- (3) The provisions of this section shall not apply to any person who proves to the satisfaction of the Law Society or, on appeal, to the satisfaction of the Master of the Rolls that he has taken a degree at any of the universities to which this Act applies after passing a final examination in law at that university, or to any person who applies to be admitted to the Law Society's final examination after satisfying the requirements contained in section four of The Solicitors. Act, 1860"-(Mr. Attorney-General); and, after the last added Amendment, by adding the words: 66 (4) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act the Law Society shall continue to conduct their examinations previous to the admission of solicitors independently of any school of law, and the teaching staff of any law school provided by the society shall not take any part in any such examinations "—(Mr. Dennis Herbert).
