Per 1,000 (a) No census was taken in Ireland in 1921, but the provisional figures for the censuses of 1926 of Northern Ireland and the Irish Free State show that the population of the whole of Ireland decreased by 161,095 persons or 37 per 1,000 between 1911 and 1926. (b) Including deaths of non-civilians which occurred outside England and Wales, estimated at 577,000. (c) Including deaths of non-civilians which occurred outwith Scotland, estimated at 74,000.
