The quantities of dutiable articles exported from bonded warehouses or shipped on drawback as "ships' stores are not included in the quantities retained for home consumption. With regard to Sugar, the figures in the first line represent the quantities entered for home consumption less the quantities overentered and the quantities exported, on drawback or otherwise, after payment of duty (including the sugar in composite articles exported, and prior to 1920 the sugar equivalent of Molasses exported on drawback). The figures in the second line prior to 1923 express, in terms of refined Sugar, the quantities of raw and refined sugar duty- paid for home consumption, less British refined Sugar exported on drawback (but not sugar in composite articles exported). From 1923 they express the equivaleat in sugar exceeding 98 polarisation of all sugar, refined and unrefined, including sugar in composite articles imported, duty paid and retained for home consumption, after deducting the sugar exported on drawback including the sugar in composite articles.
