CORN PRICES-ENGLAND AND WALES. No. 159.-AVERAGE PRICES of BRITISH WHEAT, BARLEY and OATS, per Cwt. in ENGLAND and WALES in each MONTH. (Compiled from Returns made to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries from Towns scheduled under the Corn Returns Act, 1882, and published in the Agricultural Statistics). NOTES.-The Corns Sales Act of 1921, which came into force on 1st January, 1923, provides that all transactions in British corn to be legally binding must be carried out in terms of the cwt, instead of the bushel or quarter For purposes of comparison, average prices for 1922 and prior years, formerly shown per quarter, have been converted to per cwt. at the following rates:-Wheat - 60 lbs. per bushel, Barley - 50 lbs. per bushel and Oats 39 lbs per bushel. Returns were collected from 190 towns in 1912, and from 173 towns for 1913 to 1926. AGRICULTURE. EMPLOYMENT, &C.-GREAT BRITAIN No. 160.-NUMBER of WORKERS (a) EMPLOYED on AGRICULTURAL HOLDINGS of more than one acre, and TOTAL NUMBER of such HOLDINGS, in GREAT BRITAIN, on one day in JUNE in each of the YEARS 1921 to 1926. (a) The figures exclude occupiers, occupiers' wives, and domestic servants, but include members of occupiers' families working on the holdings. (b) The figures as to holdings exclude holdings in Scotland consisting only of mountain and heath land. SEA FISHERIES.
