QUANTITY MADE OR CHARGED WITH DUTY. (a) Years ended 31st Dec. Mechani- Cider Spirits. Beer. Glucose. Saccharin. Sugar. Molasses Chicory. Tobacco. Matches. cal and Lighters. Perry. Table Waters. (a) For spirits, chicory, glucose and table waters the figures represent the quantity made and in the other cases the quantities charged with duty. (b) Frior to 1913 the quantity shown as "made" was the quantity on which the gross amount of duty was paid in the year while the quantity retained for consumption was based on the gross receipt of duty less drawbacks on beer exported, &c. : since then the "quantity made represents the number of barrels charged with duty, and the consumption represents this quantity less the quantity on which drawback, &c., has been paid. (c) Includes about 1,030,000 gallons duty paid for use in munitions. (I) MADE or CHARGED with DUTY in the UNITed Kingdom, (II) EXPORTED (II). EXPORTED OR DEPOSITED IN WAREHOUSE FOR EXPORTATION. EXCISE. (d) Includes the quantities exported as Merchandise as well as those taken for Ships' Stores, etc. (e) Quantities calculated at a standard gravity of 1,055 degrees. (f) ie., Quantities on which duty was paid, less quantities on which drawback was allowed on the goods being exported, or warehoused for exportation, either as merchandise or as Ships' Stores. (g) Duty repealed 4th August, 1921. (h) Duty on Sugar and Molasses made from home-grown beet repealed 20th July, 1922. Reimposed 1st October, 1924. The figures for Molasses include, Molasses delivered duty free for distilleries and for food for stock, those for 1925 include all deliveries from 1st October, 1924. (i) Duty repealed 1st May, 1923. (f) Duty on Sweetened Table Waters and Herb Beer repealed 1st August, 1924. (k) Excluding the Irish Free State from 1st April, 1923. (1) As from 1st July, 1925. (m) Duty repealed 4th August, 1926.
