"Widow Hollister."

Died March 21, 1809, aged 95.—(Church Records, First Society, Glastonbury).

(5552.) Howell Hollister.

Howell Hollister, (probably same as No. 5294) a harness-maker at Savannah, Ga., married Mary G.' Thurston, (Rowland, Williams George Edward? Jonathan Edward'). Her father was of Hopkinton, R. I., and her mother was Freegift McKoon. Mary G. Thurston was born Feb. 2, 1803, and died March 8, 1877. No children.

(5554) Henry Hollister.

Henry Hollister, a school-teacher and farmer at Highland, Iowa, married Mabel Caroline Newcomb, (Silas? Bradford Silas Hezekiah; Simon3 Andrew? Andrew1). She was born July, 1845.

(5555) Jacob Hollister.

Administration on the estate of Capt. Jacob Hollister of Bristol, in Great Britain, mariner, lately deceased at Middletown, being in this country, was granted Nov. 5, 1722, to John Tyloy (Tylor) and Thos. Collett, and the inventory, including the sloop Elizabeth, amounted to £1691, 3s. 2d. Jan. 1, 1723, the administrators returned their account, and at the same court, Richard Sanger and Robt. Cook appeared with letters of administration granted to them in New-York City, producing also this power of attorney:

NEW YORK, July the 30th, 1722. Whereas, I am now bound a voyage to Rhode Island, and being mortal and not knowing how it may be, though assured of the Almighty God to deal with me in my wordly health (wealth?) I do therefore, in case of my death

constitute and appoint Mr. John Reed, merchant, Mr. Robt. Cook, merchant, both of New York, and Mr. Richard Sanger of Bristol, merclrant, my true and lawful attornies and trustees, to have full power in mine and friends' affairs, to receive all debts due to them and me, and to sell and dispose of their and mine effects, and to remit home the effects of my friends according to their several particular orders as inserted in my original invoice book, and as to my commissions and particular adventures, my desire and order is that it may be remitted home in good bills of exchange or money with my clothes and other equipage and consigned to my well-beloved wife, Elizabeth Hollister in Bristol. As witness my hand the day and year of the above date,

JACOB HOLLISTER.

Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of

NATHANIEL WALKER,
THOMAS ROBERTS,

OBADIAH HUNT.

"Probate Records," Vol. 10, pp. 3, 4. Inventories, p. 6. The following inscription is from the graveyard in Middletown, Conn.:

"Here lieth the body of Jacob Hollister, late of ye City of Bristol, in Great Britain, mac'ht dec'd who departed this life ye 31st day of Oct...... Anno 1722, ætatis suæ 49 years."

It has been supposed by some that this Jacob Hollister was one of the descendants of Lieut. John Hollister, but the above account clearly shows that he was not of the American branch of the Hollister family. He may, however, have been a relative of this branch.
