Mr. WILLIAM PEASE, solicitor, of Lostwithiel, has been appointed Town Clerk of that borough.

Mr. FREDERICK HENRY BRIGHT, solicitor (of the firm of Beaumont, Son, & Bright), of Maldon, has been appointed Clerk to the County Magistrates and Clerk to the Commissioners of Land Tax and Income Tax for the Hundred of Dengie, on the resignation of his partner, Mr. Joseph Beaumont. Mr. Bright was admitted a solicitor in 1884.

Mr. GUISEPPE CARBONE, LL.D., Crown Advocate for the Island of Malta, has been created a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George.

Mr. WILLIAM ALEXANDER BAILLIE HAMILTON, barrister, has been created a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. Mr. Hamilton is the son of Admiral William Alexander Baillie Hamilton, and was born in 1844. He was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in Michaelmas Term, 1872. Mr. Hamilton has been for many years a clerk in the Colonial Office. He is private secretary to Sir Henry Holland, and he acted as secretary to the recent Colonial Conference.

Mr. ROBERT HUMPHREYS ROBERTS, solicitor, of Denbigh, has been appointed a Magistrate for that borough. Mr. Roberts is Mayor of Denbigh for the present year. He was admitted a solicitor in 1865.

Mr. SAMUEL ROBERTS, barrister, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace for the West Riding of Yorkshire. Mr. Roberts was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in Easter Term, 1877, and for some years practised in the Chancery Division.

Mr. CLIFTON H. TICKELL, solicitor, of No. 37, Walbrook, London, E.C., has been appointed a Commissioner to administer Oaths for New Zealand.
