The expenditure out of this Grant in Aid will not be accounted for in detail to the Comptroller and Auditor General, but he will be furnished by the Colonial Office with the audited accounts and with any report of the Director of Colonial Audit thereon. No surrender will be made by the payee at the close of the year of the unexpended balance (if any) of such sums as may be

NOTE. The sum of £5,000 has been advanced from the Civil Contingencies Fund and a corresponding amount of this Vote is required to enable repayment to be made to that Fund.

UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES, GREAT BRITAIN, AND INTERMEDIATE EDUCATION, WALES.

I. SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATE of the Amount required in the Year ending 31 March 1928 for Grants in Aid of the Expenses of certain UNIVERSITIES, COLLEGES, MEDICAL SCHOOLS, ETC., in GREAT BRITAIN, and for Grants to Schools under the Welsh Intermediate Education Act, 1889; also for a Contribution (Grant in Aid) to LONDON UNIVERSITY towards the cost of a site in Bloomsbury and accommodation.

NOTE. The expenditure out of the Grant in Aid will not be audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General, nor will any unexpended balance of the sums issued be liable to surrender at the close of the financial year.

Of the total grant of £212,500 a sum of £125,000 has been advanced from the Civil Contingencies Fund towards the cost of the purchase by the University of a site in Bloomsbury. A corresponding amount of this Vote is required to make repayment to that Fund. The balance of the grant will be paid to the University as a contribution towards the cost of accommodation.
