Safe Tractor Operation

By E. W. Foss

T

HIS bulletin presents recommendations, which are regulations in some states, for the safe operation of farm tractors. Learn them and then practice them when you are operating a tractor.

Because you may be required to operate a farm tractor on highways, you should know and practice the motor vehicle "Rules of the Road." In some states operators of farm tractors on highways must be licensed motor vehicle operators. If you must drive a farm tractor on or across a highway, drive the tractor as if it were a registered motor vehicle, obeying all requirements and courtesy rules!

Tractor operators need:

A lightweight hat for sun protection, although
a safety or "bump" hat is even better
Work gloves for handling rough items
Trousers with no cuffs

Work shoes or boots-preferably safety type
