APPENDIX D

A Heavy Mobile Equipment Supervisor stated on Form CA-1:

"I was handling turbo housing and I caught base of 4th

right finger between two housings."

Diagnosis: Small laceration between 4th right finger, also bruise surface between fingers.

This employee, under the 1974 FECA amendments, exercised his rights, elected to see his own personal physician, to be treated for a routine first aid injury.

Results: Employee was out of work for 24 calendar days, 18 of which were work days.

Though we feel the injury was not disabling, OWCP approved his

claim and ordered payment.

APPENDIX E

On 23 September 1976, a lady Tool and Parts Attendant made the following report on Form CA-1:

"I stepped backward to get away from moving forklift and

stepped on a loose piece of wood, causing me to hurt lower left side."

Employee received first-aid treatment at the Anniston Army Depot and was referred, upon request, to a physician in town. Employee was placed in back brace and returned to duty following two days of COP. However, the following week, employee alleged back brace was too tight causing pneumonia. Employee went to personal physician and requested to be placed on COP. This agency controverted the remaining 43 days of COP because we could find no relationship between developing pneumonia and wearing a back brace.

Result: OWCP authorized the remaining 43 calendar days.
