Defendants also introduced evidence to the effect that the movement of commodities on which complainants show rates for comparative purposes is much greater than on oil-well tools, and in some instances that the competition of rail and water carriers requires lower level of rates on those commodities than is necessary on the traffic under consideration. The evidence with respect to the volume of movement shows that in 1927 the Southern Pacific participated in the movement of 43,000 carloads of automobiles and automobile parts, 4.125 carloads of pipe, 6,192 carloads of machinery and machines, and 3,190 carloads of electrical machinery and appliances. During the year ending July 30, 1928, it participated in the movement of 75 carloads of oil-well machinery eastbound from California to transcontinental points and 47 carloads westbound to California, a total of 122 carloads. In Tulsa Traffic Asso. v. Atchison, T. & S. F. Ry. Co., 152 I. C. C. 775, we found, among other things, that the $1.74 rate on oil-well supplies from Tulsa to Los Angeles was not unreasonable. The allegations of unjust discrimination and undue prejudice are not sustained. We find that the rates assailed were not and are not unreasonable or otherwise unlawful.
